The lads at nyc moped were fantastic with me. They did a bang up job on me moped. The results were amazing. When I had issues with me bike they were amazing to work with. They are passionate about what they do. This is the kind of business I love to spend my money with. Independent local business at its best. Well done lads. I’ll be back. Thanks again lads….Paul 🏍️💨

Mopeds! In NYC! What more is there to say?
Seriously we shouldn't take for granted the fact that we have a shop that carries parts for, will work on, and acts as a library of knowledge about these crazy vintage machines. I do my own repairs and they've always given advice freely & never tried to sell me on service or upsell me on parts I didn't need.

NYC Mopeds rebuilt the engine for my 79' Puch Magnum MK2. I had this work done nearly a year ago and the engine is still running great with around 1,000 miles since the rebuild. After picking up the bike, there were a few minor issues that prompted a follow up visit but otherwise nothing major. As a fellow small business owner, I appreciated how JP stood behind his work when issues appeared. Now onto pricing; NYC Mopeds is well on the expensive side. When you consider the logistics associated with running a shop in Brooklyn, it makes sense. These higher than average expenses associated with running a shop in NYC will typically get passed onto the consumer as it does with any other business in Brooklyn. In other words, their prices will seem expensive if you are traveling into the city from outside but normal if you are visiting from within the city. NYC is expensive, expect to pay a little extra if you are visiting from outside the city.

Otherwise, doing business with NYC Mopeds was a good experience but by no means perfect.

I ended up with a 1986 Honda spree that had been in my family for a while. I did get it running before I put it away for the winter last year. This year I just couldn’t get it to start. I finally admitted to myself it was too much for me to undertake and began my search. I’ve had an old bike that nobody would touch years ago so I knew this would likely end in heartache and scraping the scoot. Well to my surprise I found NYC Mopeds within 2 days of my search. When I called to make my appointment they were concerned about taking the spree siting sprees are finicky. Which I totally understand and agree with. Needless to say they took it in for an evaluation and it needed a bit more than I expected. But hey that’s why I decided to find real mechanics. It wasn’t cheap to fix but their work is solid and all of the folks there were a real pleasure to deal with. The odd hours actually made it easy for me. I am going to go with them anytime my vintage scoot needs some attention for sure.

I bought a moped here and it changed my life. I had done so much research on how to easily get around the city for gigs and these beautiful machines are the best way. Not only that but this shop is run by a man I trust (and there are only like 3 trustworthy men in the world), I was able to set up a payment plan, learn safety, and easily get in contact when I had questions.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Highly recommend.

This is a small business we want in the community. Full of integrity, artistry, and kindness. Buy a moped!

UPDATE: I had a weird, intimate encounter with the owner the first time my moped broke down (it ended up breaking down every two weeks). I asked the owner out, he said no, I asked if we could be friends, he said yes. Then he got very annoyed with me and put me down.

I was relying on my moped to make money. I ended up losing gigs because several times my moped broke down on the way to a gig and I was late/could not make it. When I expressed my frustration to the owner, he called me "too much" and said he "quickly realized" after meeting me that I was "too tumultuous" to be friends with.

His words made me cry. Made me feel small, and unsafe.

I realized that my moped would keep breaking down every two weeks--I loved it so I was willing to keep working on it, but I was not willing to have a man who doesn't know me insult me for every repair.

The owner gave me (some of my) money back (in exchange for me giving him the broken moped) and I really believe it was clash of personalities. I wish the owner understood that business is relationship management. He seems to think that our problems come from my lack of being professional (I paid him thousands of dollars and was a customer so him saying I wasn't professional enough was weird). I miss my moped and think of it everyday. It's just another example of a man saying one thing, acting the opposite way, and then penalizing me for not being able to read his mind.

If you are a femme doing business here, BE CAREFUL.

They always have the parts I need for my Puch mopeds, this shop slaps. Not to mention, it's the only repair shop in the city that'll work on your 2-stroke. My only gripe is that they are closed on Mondays *&* Tuesdays. Those are the only two days I have free time but I'm not expecting them to change their business hours to convenience me. Keep doing what y'all do, y'all rock 😎😃
