I’m incredibly grateful to Josh and his team for restoring my family’s 170-year-old violin. For decades, it sat broken, passed between homes, until I—a violinist of 33 years—worked up the courage to find someone worthy to repair it. A trusted friend recommended Josh’s Guitar Shop, and I quickly saw why.

The violin had a broken tailpiece, missing bridge, aged strings, and cracks that made the repair seem daunting. But when I retrieved it from the shop, it was fully revived—cracks repaired, tailpiece restored, new strings, and even in tune, bringing a huge smile to my face.

I was nervous handing over something so precious, but they gave my family back a piece of our history—back to working order! I couldn’t be more appreciative. Thank you, Josh and team, for your incredible work! I highly recommend their services—not just for guitars, but for any stringed instrument in need of expert care.

Awesome luthier in Central Illinois, the best around. I always make the trip out of town to get my guitars set up. They are aware that people travel from all over so they often post on Facebook in case they are closing up early, etc. They have set up several of my guitars in various tunings in case you are looking for that. Highly recommend!

Went there to get my guitar because I got no updates on the guitar and they took the pickgaurd off of my vintage 1953 SJ200 Gibson acoustic without me knowing and broke off a piece of binding around the sound hole. Then when I was gonna restring the instrument they couldn't find my bridge pins which are original to the guitar. Ill give them this they got rid of the main rattle of the guitar but I was expecting some extra caution and care for taking in such an instrument.

Overall: Very Disorganized, Unprofessional service...

I just got one guitar back and have dropped off a second. The first one came back sounding great. I had it fully rewired, and it came back exactly as requested, in a reasonable amount of time, and sounding like a million bucks. The price was fair, and the wiring is OCD-level tidy. Nice work Josh!

So much friendlier than the other music store in town. They did an amazing job of setting up my guitar. They also fixed an amp head for me, very quickly and reasonably priced.
