Tried this shop for the first time and was very impressed. They were extremely responsive and then were really nice guys to work with. Prices seemed pretty on par for the city. Couldn’t believe how quick I had my bike back too. Very happy and this is my new shop now!

Great shop for airheads. Mike and his team know these bikes inside out. They re-spoked my wheels, did an oil change on my r69s. Cool guys to talk bikes with, doesnt feel like an uptight business environment.

Was really happy for motorcycle shop so close to where I live
But than tire change cost me over $300
Bit too steep
Work that was done happened maybe half way at least with chain clean up $80
They didn't even take chain off the bike to do that and tried to balance my wheel with "gel agent" where you need to work with spokes to make it happen and weights.
They took existing weights of and replaced it with "gel agent"
It only worsen the balance of the wheel
And offer me $20 refund if I want to
Won't be coming back here with my bike.
End up having tire replaced for $320.0
I wanted to get refund for that chain work and I would understand $160-180/hr service and believe it wouldn't take more than one hour to get it done (tire swap)

The place was hard to find, but they helped me out for free. I don't know much about motorcycles, and they quickly figured out it was the battery. They even gave me a ride to go get one, and sure enough, the bike turned on. They didn’t charge me anything—shout out to Kyle and Elvis. Their expertise definitely shows, and I would have taken forever to figure that out on my own. Such an underrated shop with genuine people. They even gave me water since I had been pushing the bike for a while toward their shop. Highly recommend. They definitely have my business if my bike were to break down again.

Tl;DR: very expensive, slow and rude service, better places to get service like misguided.

When here a while ago because my clutch wasn’t fully engaging correctly but turns out my clutch cable wasn’t tension correctly. Which was an easy fix… still had them look at my bike and payed $160 inspection fee for them to take a look. They didn’t find anything wrong but still gave me a list of “suggested” fixes totaling up to $1700 for a good shape and working motorcycle. I told them to go ahead do a chain cleaning on the bike, and then it took over a week to get my bike back for just a chain cleaning.

Checked in a few times to see where they were with my bike because it is my main mode of transport and they became quite rude over the phone when I just want to check in and see where my bike is because I haven’t heard anything in few days about it.

Honestly, this place made me scared to go to any motorcycle mechanic after this interaction and started learning how to work on my bike myself due to the cost and the service I received…

I wouldn’t recommend going here! I when to another motorcycle shop called “misguided” for a new tire and chain cleaning. They were able to have everything done in an hour, had a nice place to sit and were very nice to me the whole time. It made me really realize how bad of an interaction I had with Federal Moto was 👎!

Highly recommend federal for all your motorcycle repairs! The team is super knowledgeable and skilled. They fixed the front end of my bike after an accident and had it fixed and back on the ride in no time.

This is the best shop in Chicago. The guys were super friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to sit and chat about the entire job and what went into it. I booked my appointment and had my bike back in a day. They’re not cheap, but that’s to be expected from any great shop. Besides, it’s well worth it considering the quality of work they do. They are most definitely my new trusted shop.

These guys are great! I have an older Harley and my exhaust mount cracked in two places and sheared off my exhaust port stud flush while I was doing 80 on the highway, I limped it home with a bunch of hose clamps and safety wire and started looking around for some place that could weld up my stainless steel exhaust and fix my exhaust stud in just a few days time before another long ride.

Federal Moto had me covered. For a reasonable price, I dropped my bike off on a Friday when they opened and got it back same day just before close. Michael TIG welded up my exhaust back to the original bracket with a much beefier weld that looks better than factory and was able to pull my head off and swap out the exhaust stud while still salvaging the original threads.

It's hard to find a good mechanic still in Chicago, but these guys are still out there working hard every day to bring bikes back to life. Support 'em so they can support you!
